Sandalkad Estate Ibnivalvadi Village, Coorg · 1170 masl · Shamveel Nizam and Faisal Siddiqui
Shamveel and Faisal are seventh-generation coffee farmers — few producers in Coorg have that depth of lineage. The estate sits at 1170 metres, producing coffees under a dense canopy of trees, with black pepper as the primary spice intercrop. Every coffee here is fully shade grown. Sandalkad holds both Rainforest Alliance and Bird Friendly certification.
Surya Kiran Estate Madapur, Coorg · 1060–1110 masl · Anitha Nanda
Anitha Nanda runs Surya Kiran Estate with a clear philosophy: native trees are preserved, the land works in balance, and processing is precise. She is also a passionate beekeeper. Anitha was named Rainforest Alliance Ambassador for Southeast Asia in 2022. The estate grows SLN 13 (Chandragiri), Obota, and HdT Catuai, and has been pushing into anaerobic fermentation with careful attention to pH and drying control.
Kogilahalla Estate Chettalli, Coorg · 1000–1100 masl · Muthana Cariapa
Established in the early 1930s and farmed across four generations. A 100% Arabica plantation and one of the top pepper producers in the region. The estate has a dense canopy of fig, nandi, and rosewood trees, a stream running through the property, and rainwater harvesting infrastructure. This is among the few estates that still grows Kent, an early Arabica cultivar grown in India.
Palace Field Estate Haleri, Coorg · 1000 masl · Sunil Somaiah & Rajan Appanna
A third-generation plantation named after the Haleri kings who once held court here. Known for its meticulous farming and high density of native shade trees — fig, nandi, and rosewood — with pepper, areca nut, and banana as intercrops. The estate was hit by severe landslides in 2018 and rebuilt over several years. The coffees today reflect that resilience.
Arecad Estate Arecad, Coorg · 1000 masl · Muthana Cariapa
A fourth-generation 100% Arabica plantation growing under a dense canopy of fig, nandi, and rosewood. Pepper and avocados are the primary intercrops. A stream runs through the estate and rainwater is harvested into an on-farm tank.
Mysore Nuggets Extra Bold (MNEB) Coorg, India · Various estates · Washed Arabica · AAA grade
India's most recognised premium Arabica grade. The AAA classification is the strictest screen-size grading in Indian Arabica — 90% of beans exceed 7.5mm (19 screen), 100% exceed 6.65mm (17 screen), zero defects permitted. This amounts to roughly 7–10% of the total harvest across contributing estates. Valued by roasters for consistent bean size, predictable heat transfer, and stable roast development.
